The company Javna razsvetljava was founded in 1952 as the first Slovenian company specialising in the construction and maintenance of public lighting. With increasing traffic and development of traffic signage, the company activities also expanded to include devices for light and non-light traffic signage.

JR operated in many different organisation forms, also as a part of larger systems. Since 1990, the company has operated independently. It was restructured as a joint stock in 1994.

In its fifty-seven years of existence, JR can proudly boast with a number of reference buildings, and is actively participating in providing equipment for complex buildings parts of the construction of motorways and state roads in the Republic of Slovenia.

Experts JR Ltd. employs actively participate in national (Lighting Engineering Society of Slovenia, Slovenian National Committee of CIE) and international organisations (CIE - Commision International d’Eclarige – international commission on illumination) in the field of illumination.
