ESCO PROJECTS

ESCO (Energy Service Company) are companies that take care of the energy management of a facility or device and ensure savings.

Contractual provision of energy savings or energy contracting is a contractual relationship between a client or beneficiary (e.g. a municipality) and a provider of measures to improve energy efficiency or the use of renewable energy sources (so-called ESCO or implementing company).

ESCO finances and implements an investment in energy efficiency, for example energy-rehabilitating public lighting in the entire city or in a selected area. After completion, the investment is repaid with savings due to lower energy consumption and lower investment maintenance costs.

In the contract, the ESCO or contractor undertakes to manage the lighting well and ensure the agreed savings during the agreed time (between 5 and 15 years). When the contract expires, the savings in electricity and maintenance costs belong only to the beneficiary or the municipality. The client does not need its own financial resources for the implementation of the measures and the implementation of the contract (except for the implementation of the preparatory phase of the project, e.g. preparation of the cadastre and control over the implementation of the project) and does not additionally burden the budget, since all the costs of the implemented measures are paid from the savings generated, i.e. surplus funds for energy products, which are left to the client due to a reduction in consumption, and due to lower current operating costs.
